Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that gives access to up to 15,000 hours of content including original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series.

It will include news, entertainment, sports, late-night, and reality from various NBCU properties including NBC, Bravo, and E!.

Just like other streaming services, Peacock will have their own original series including reboots of Save By The Bell, Punky Brewster, and Battlestar Galactica. They also have shows like Rutherford Falls (Ed Helms), Dr. Death (Alec Baldwin), and a behind-the-scenes docs-series about Saturday Night Live.

The company has acquired the rights to many classic shows like the entire Dick Wolf library including Law & Order and Chicago Fire. Peacock will also become the exclusive home for Parks and Recreation (October 2020) and The Office (January 2021).

The service will also feature blockbusters and critically-acclaimed films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination and content acquired from Hollywood’s biggest studios.

Peacock Premium will be released on April 15th with to Comcast customers on X1 and Flex devices. The nationwide launch of Peacock Free and Premium to everyone on a full set of platforms will be July 15th.


The service has two tiers, Peacock Free, which is available to all customers at no charge, and Peacock Premium which starts at $4.99 a month with ads and $9.99 a month without ads. If you are a Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, or Cox Contour customer — you will get a $5 discount on either plan — meaning you can get Peacock Premium at no extra charge.

Peacock Free includes 7,500 hours of programming including next day access of first-year NBCU shows, select movies, and complete classic series. Peacock Premium includes 15,000 hours of programming including next day access to current season of all NBCU series, early access to late-night shows, Peacock Originals, and live sports like Premier League, Ryder Cup, and The Olympics.


We plan to test Peacock, as we have with other subscription streaming services. While not confirmed, Peacock is expected to be compatible with Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku, iPhone/iPad, Web Browsers, and Android Phone/Tablet.


Peacock will include to up 15,000 hours of content including original shows, classic series, and movies.

In addition to on-demand content, Peacock will have linear channels similar to Pluto TV. These will both include live content like a full 24/7 feed of The Olympic Channel — but also created ones like one based on the SNL Vault.

Peacock Premium subscribers will also get access to Premier League games not available on linear TV, as well as a 24/7 feed of The Olympic Channel. For late-night show fans, you will be able to watch full episodes of The Tonight Show and Late Night starting at 8pm ET daily.


The NBCU-owned service is doubling down on nostalgia for their original shows. When they launch next year, it will include reboots of Saved By The Bell, Battlestar Galactica, and Punky Brewster.

Other series coming to Peacock are Rutherford Falls with Ed Helms, Dr. Death with Jamie Dornan, Alec Baldwin, and Christian Slater, and behind-the-scenes docuseries about Saturday Night Live.

TV Shows

NBCUniversal’s Peacock which will launch next year will become the exclusive home of The Office (2021), Parks and Recreation (October 2020), Law & Order, Chicago Fire and Two and a Half Men.

Many shows that stream on Hulu, will also stream on Peacock like 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights, Fraiser, Cheers, House, and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.


Peacock will also offer a robust slate of critically-acclaimed films and box-office hits from Universal Pictures and Focus Features.

These titles range from laugh-out-loud comedies like “American Pie,” “Bridesmaids,” “Knocked Up,” “Meet the Parents,” and “Meet the Fockers,” to award-winning classics such as “A Beautiful Mind,” “Back to the Future,” “Brokeback Mountain,”“Casino,” “Dallas Buyers Club,” “Do the Right Thing,” “Erin Brockovich,” “E.T. The Extra Terrestrial,” “Field of Dreams,” “Jaws,” “Mamma Mia!,” “Shrek,” and “The Breakfast Club.” Peacock will also feature films from the franchises: “Bourne,” “Despicable Me,” and “Fast & Furious.”


Peacock will have a lot of family-friendly content that airs on NBC, but it’s expected to have additional shows from Dreamworks Animation.

Each account will let you create Profiles for the different members of your household. You can choose an avatar from some of your favorite Universal characters.

Parental Controls

Just like other streaming services, Peacock will let you can set an account in “Kids Mode.” This will give a unique experience just for children featuring kids-focused content for your family.

Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max, HBO NOW, Hulu, Netflix, and SHOWTIME also have parental control features.

Simultaneous Devices

Just like the NBC App, Peacock will likely let you stream on multiple devices at the same time. As of right now though, Peacock hasn’t disclosed the exact number of devices.

No Ads

While both Peacock Free and Peacock Premium are ad-supported, they will only have five minutes of ads per hour of content. You can remove ads from Peacock Premium for an additional $4.99 a month.

Offline Downloads

Peacock is built on the same platform as Sky’s Now TV platform, which supports offline downloads. While they haven’t announced it yet, it is likely on their ad-free plan that they will support offline downloads.

No International Access

When you leave the country, you will likely only be able to access content you’ve already downloaded to your mobile device.
